'Conscious Coupling,' is only a new concept for those who prefer to literally 'mind-trip and fall' into love, as opposed to walking into it with your eyes open and observing what is happening in real time between yourself and another person. But shouldn't it always be like this?
Regardless of what any of us think of 'conscious coupling' or the term itself, it is exactly what we wish for when a bad relationship ends and we ask, 'why didn't i see that coming,' or better yet we knew there were red flags but made a conscious decision to turn a blind eye to them because it was easier (and probably nicer at the time) to lose our pain of singledom in an adrenaline rush of 'falling' rather than experiencing the mindfulness and wisdom of walking into an essentially unknown situation with our eyes open.
A lot of what we do in these situations comes down to maturity, or as we like to say these days, 'Emotional Intelligence,' and our ability to correctly process what we are feeling and effectively factor those feelings into our decision making process. When we do this successfully, we are able to give 'context' to a situation that feels good by asking is it the right time, situation or person for us.
The result? Better decision making when it comes to relationships. So continue to close your eyes with glee, but remember to keep your minds eye open and aware as the quality of your next relationship will always depend on your awareness of action of the real threats to your continual happiness.
