5 Habits That Prepare You for a Healthy Relationship

1. Not All Relationships Are Meant To Last Forever.

A healthy relationship mindset will see relationships for what they really are – purposeful opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment. Once the relationships purpose has been fulfilled, the urge will naturally come to move on – whether it is to a new relationship or a period of reflection about what has just been experienced. Purposeful fulfillment in relationship may fulfill itself within a matter of minutes, weeks, months or years depending on the purpose and that purpose is something that one with a healthy relationship mindset will be honest about with themselves and their partner as soon as it becomes known.

2. There’s No Investment Like Self Investment

Investing in yourself for the purpose of a relationship will mean investing time developing your emotional intelligence. A healthy relationship mindset will dig deep to understand their ‘Why?’ Asking yourself ‘Why?’ will reveal to you the cause of why you choose or act the way you do in relationships and puts you in a position to understand, heal, balance, and effortlessly express your emotions on multiple levels. Going through this process also allows the healthy relationship mindset to recognize and attract others who have put themselves through the same emotionally enlightening process, thereby creating a greater potential for them to engage in dysfunction free relationships.

3. Powers of Positive Association

This is related to the previous point. Becoming aware of emotional intelligence does come naturally to some, but for others it has to be introduced. The chances of this happening are improved by engaging with others that are seeking or have achieved true emotional awareness. You may find them reading self-awareness themed books, practicing mind opening exercises like yoga and meditation, or they could be in profoundly fulfilling relationships are willing to share the wisdom they have learned along the way with you.

4. It’s A Ritual

Maintaining your level of emotional intelligence is just the same as trying to remain smart if you want to remain eligible for the best jobs or careers. You need to re-skill, engage in new experiences and upgrade your presentation. The emotionally healthy mindset will do all these things on a routine basis, like an exercise regimen – except it’s for the emotions. Staying fit, eating healthily, practicing mindfulness, engaging the right people, practicing honesty, and staying on purpose are all elements that contribute to an emotionally healthy mindset and be practiced with daily regularity.

5. Review and Renew

One can have all the positive practices in the world and still may not be learning anything, which is why self-review on any actual emotional progress being made is so important. So how does the emotionally healthy mindset know when it’s making progress? Simple. Look at your own reflection in your environment, your friends, the things you do, the plans you make and see if they are in line with the purpose you have set out for yourself. Are you emotionally where you thought you would be? Or are you trapped in a cycle of negative behavior because of something you haven’t uncovered? Understanding any lingering issues you have is all part of the review process that helps you to make adjustments to your development along the way. Whether you’re flying solo or in a healthy relationship consistent review of the self is what keeps you emotionally healthy and that of course is where all the true wealth is.
